MONACIANELLO

The extensive Tenuta of Monaciano, seven kilometres from historic Siena, is situated on a hilltop with a commanding view of the splendid Sienese Chianti countryside.A short walk from the proprietor’s villa and its adjacent nineteenth-century grounds – nucleus of the estate – lies Monacianello. In addition to being an exceptionally fine example of Chianti’s rural architecture, Monacianello embodies the very essence of country life in Tuscany. To stay at Monacianello is to experience the “ideal” Tuscan country holiday.

Two ancient farm buildings have been converted into independent apartments.The larger building houses four apartments, two of which are on the ground floor. A one-time carriage house, with characteristic lofty arches, forms a wing of the main building and contains a fifth apartment. Yet another apartment, separate from the others, has been created from an old stone granary. The restoration, thoroughly meeting contemporary standards of comfort, faithfully reproduces original architectural features and uses materials typical of traditional Chianti farm buildings.

A swimming pool for guests, measuring 9 X 4.5 mt. and open during the summer months, has been fashioned from what was once the estate’s fish pond. Set among fields and olive groves with vistas of the surrounding Chianti hills, the pool-side area inspires relaxation. A short walk on a path through the nearby woods opens onto a clearing with a view of a small lake, part of the tenuta’s extensive property.
